Simplicity adjusting shoulder straps and harness

My wife and I have got a silvercross simplicity car seat and our baby is due in November.

The instructions for this seem to be useless. There is no way you can adjust the harness by simply putting one hand behind it and pulling. But I have worked out a way of doing this.

My question though concerns the adjustments you can make by accessing the panel behind the seat. There are numerous positions you can move a lever to but no guidance at all as to which setting is appropriate. Ideally I want the best for a newborn but want the seat set up before he arrives.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the order of these positions eg top to bottom as the baby grows or vice versa.

Have you looked on Youtube?

There are instruction videos for all kinds of seats on there, you might find one for your seat.

Otherwise ask for advice at the shop where you bought it.

Thanks = both thoughts had occurred, but the youtube videos are universally awful and painful to watch. Similarly the staff at Mothercare seem to be aged between 17-21 at most and aren't any good at explaining things.

Baby is here now so its been trial and error.

Hopefully this isn’t too late to still be helpful but with the simplicity, you need to start with the head support in the lowest position it can go and gradually move it up as baby gets bigger. The harness position should be level with or just below baby’s shoulders as it’s a rear facing seat. There is also a small wedge underneath baby’s bottom which can be removed later on if you feel baby is getting to big for the seat

The PP is right - with any seat you start with the harness in the lowest possible position.

With a rear facing seat you switch to the next set of slots when the baby reaches the current slots - the slot the straps come from should always be level with or lower than the baby's shoulders.

With a forward facing seat you move once the child's shoulders have passed the slot, as the straps should always come from a slot which is level with or above the child's shoulders. When the child is tall enough that their shoulders are above the highest harness slot they are too tall for the seat.

In any seat pull the straps as tight as they will go. I sometimes find pushing down on the crotch strap reveals a bit of slack in the shoulder straps which can be tightened up.
