Car seat using lap belt only...

we are going on a ski holiday soon and there will be a 1.5 hour coach transfer. ST will be 20 months old. For the transfer apparently normally smalls sit on their parents lap but I'm not overly happy with that idea. We can take a car seat for free on the flights but it needs to be fitted using just a lap belt - does anyone know of any?
We have isize car seats in our cars so it would go in the loft so ideally not very expensive!

I don't know of any such car seat but you may not have seat on a coach for a child that young. They may expect him to sit on your knee.

We’ve just held LO when doing transfers as more often than not they aren’t allocated a seat and there aren’t enough. I’d just hold LO as realistically a car seat held with a lap belt probably wouldn’t do much in a crash. Probably the same as you holding LO

Could you cost up a private transfer via car and take your own carseat onboard?

You need an airline approved car seat to use on the plane - it's worth checking that the airline you're flying with will accept them. I think some will only allow them in certain seats. We have this car seat www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/eclipse/ which is airline approved but we've never taken it on a plane. Also worth bearing in mind that you won't have a seat for a 20 month old on either the plane or the coach as you won't be paying for a ticket for them.

It's the coach try to the ski resort I am thinking about it for. The company has said that can do it and that he could have a seat for that transfer.

I had a Britax eclipse fitted with lap belt in a van for ages - it is now in a car and both felt just as secure. It needs to be one that specifies you can use la belt only,

We have a Britax eclipse, have used it in few flights ( with Ryanair) and it’s a great holiday car seat. I believe if you pay for a seat for your child you can sit an under 2 in car seat on board. My daughter was 2/3 when we used ours so had to pay for separate seat anyway.
Can be fitted in car/ coach with just lap belt too so should be ok for transfers.

Britax prince is a good one. Never had problems using it and it's easy to install.
