Hello all, first time posting, so bear with me! My 4 month old is 20lb and 72cm long. I'm not sure how long he's going to last in his current car seat (maxi cosi pebble). Basically I'm looking for a rear facing seat that will accommodate him from birth to potentially 4 years but with an isofix base. Any ideas please? Xx

I've got a Dualfix and I'm happy with it, the seat doesn't come off the base though if that's what you mean? Maxi Cosi have just released the Two Way Pearl that uses a separate base, or the Hauck Varioguard does similar for less money.

Oh great thank you so much. I shall look these up! My eldest has the normal pearl so I shall look up the two way. Thank you all so much. Xx

I'm loving the cybex sirone after a brief look at them all. The maxfix seems quite hard to find but appears to have been replaced by the dual fix. Xx

I didn't like the Sirona when we tried it - I don't like impact shields (and nor do Britax) and nor did dd2! I read that the straps don't go up high enough for taller toddlers either. The Dualfix swivels which is the only plus of the Sirona as far as I could see, plus it's slightly cheaper.

Klippan kiss. I have one of these and it is awesome. Not massive so fits in my small car. Isofix or seat belt so no worries if you need to use it in a different car. Has a removable baby insert so if you have another one you can take a baby 10kg or less out of the car whilst still in seat. Nice reclining position. When I looked at the dualfix in store I thought my child would grow out of it heightwise well before he gets to 18kg. The kiss has a higher seat.

The maxfix and dualfix both fit in nearly identical ways.

Both have smallest shells though and agree with previous posters that they will be outgrown before most erf.

Look at besafe and axkid seats. Axkid has one of the tallest shells ( as done britax two way elite). The main thing is whether any of the ERF that don't stipulate from birth will have a low enough slot on harness.

If you can wait and use the pebble for as long as possible you will have more options.

Look at www.rearfacingtoddlers.com website and her albums on facebook

The two way doesn't fit on existing family fix base, is a small shell and very expensive for what it is!
