Car seats

2 year on nursery coach trip - what booster seat would you use?

Hello
My 2 year old DD is due to go on her first coach trip with nursery in a couple of weeks. Nursery says I need to provide a booster seat to fit coach's lap seat belts but all the ones I can find seem to be for 4 year olds and older (or 15kg + and she's only 11kg). Has anyone been in a similar situation and what did you use?
Thanks v much.

I don't think there are many, if any, boosters aimed at this age, as they are not really recommended until older.

I wouldn't use a booster seat for a 11kg 2yo - I'm trying to find out if it's possible to fit a normal car seat with just a lap belt, but I don't think it is.

Do they mean a high back booster seat or just a cushion btw?

^ This can apparently be fitted with just a lap belt, and it's narrow too.

Is it a legal requirement that she's in a car seat/booster while on the coach? If she's only 11kg you won't be able to use a booster - she's too little.

Thanks everyone. I agree, she is too little for any of seats I can find and am considering not letting her go because I just don't know if she'll be safe.

hula I had originally thought just the cushion variety but now I think it Robots suggestion may be the only way to ensure she's strapped in. I'll ask the nursery if this will fit on the coach seats. Many thanks for the link Robot

Does the coach definitely only have lap belts? When our nursery took the children on a coach, they managed to get one with 3 point belts so that the children could use their normal car seats.

The seat linked to above would be my preference if not. Otherwise is there any way that you could have the day off work and meet them there?

I don't think there's much point using a booster cushion on a coach really, given that the main point of them is to raise the child up enough that the seatbelt crosses their chest at the right point. No need for that if they're in a coach. HBB would make more sense, as at least there would be a bit of side impact protection.

I think that seat is quite narrow - it's apparently good for sitting on the middle seat inbetween other car seats, so hopefully it'll fit :)

Sorry, that should say .... no need for that if it's a lap belt on a coach.

Thanks - this is all good advice. Iwish - that's a good question, I was led to believe it was lap belts but I will double check. Robot - yes, that looks ideal, and useful for other impromptu trips too hopefully! Really appreciate the advice.

This reminds me. I must write to my school about their lapbelts on coaches......

Anyway OP. 2 year old needs to be a group one seat RF or FF.
Only two FF seats exist that can be secured with a lapbelt. Britax Eclipse and Prince. Maxi Cosi priori used to be ok with a lapbelt but maxi cosi has said no to this now.
