Izi combi x3 Isofix from birth

I didn't buy our Izi combi for DS until he had outgrown his Britax group 0+ so never used it very early on but I'm confused as it says it is a Group 0+/1 seat but only suitable from 6 months. So is it not suitable for a newborn? DS2 due in a few weeks and need to get seats sorted and have lent my Brirtax to my sister in law who is not keen to return it just yet!

I'd never read it's only suitable from 6 months. Technically, it has to be suitable from birth to be put in the group 0 category. However, mine sits very upright in my sister's car so I wouldn't put a newborn in it. It depends on the angle it's at in your car really. If it looks alright then use it, otherwise you'll have to prise the Britax from your sister-in-law's hands!

That's just what it says on the In car safety site but like you I don't think the recline is enough for a newborn plus the fact that I wouldn't be able to get a sleeping baby out of the car in it very easily.

I think I can answer this one as we researched this quite a lot. We bought the X2 belt Combi from Groovystyle but it is more or less the same seat as the X3 Combi Isofix without the Isofix. It is classed as group 0+1 however if you look at the manual it does say 6m-4years.

We were buying it for an 10 month old but the chap at Groovystyle went through everything about the Combi and explained it really well. He said that although it is rated as group 0+1 0-18 kilos it can only really be used from 6 months as the seat does not recline enough for a newborn.

Yes thanks it does. Sister in law is kindly giving back the Britax and has asked me for advice on getting another seat to replace it - I feel honoured!

realise you've sorted this now but wanted to comment anyway!

when we bought ours from the in-car safety centre they said it's been tested from birth and that's why it is classed like that.. but that the manufacturer does not recommend that it be used from birth despite it officially meeting the criteria

Thanks. Was just browsing looking for links for SIL to make her realise that RF seats do not mean your PFB is staring at a seat for the next 3 years .
I will pop new baby (when he arrives) in the Britax, then when he outgrows that he can go in the IZI and DS can have something else.....

We have things like this in the cars my daughter and niece go in. The mirrors are actually really good so you can see what they're up to through something more attractive than the usual mirrors designed for rear facing carseats. They're not that fussed if they don't have anything infront of them though-I think the wider world is interesting enough!
