Car seats

When to move

I have done all of this baby bit before but have totally forgotten the rules! Do I need to move DD up to the next stage car seat (from Maxi Cosi Cabriofix) when her head reaches the top of the seat?

Obviously she needs to be under 13kg, but for group 0/0+, the top of her head should be below the top of car seat. There is no way I'd move my daughter up to the next stage forward facing unless she was at least 15 months personally. I actually won't be moving her forward facing until she's 18kg because I have two seats that rear face until then.

Thanks that is my issue, she is only 8 months old (98th centiler for length), a week or so ago there was a good inch or two gap between her bonce and the top of the seat put her in the seat yesterday and there is now considerably less. I might look into one of the type that can go rear facing for a bit longer after all that I have read on MN. Do you know if there are any that can recline a bit for sleeping like some of the forward facing ones can? Bugger.

DS v tall too - has varied between 91-98 centile all his life (he is nearly 3). His head was well over the top of his cabriofix at 9 months, when we moved him to a Group 1 seat.

The ones I've used are the Klippan Kiss 2 (also known as an Akta Graco Duologic II), Maxi Cosi Mobi and BeSafe Izi Combi X2. All of them recline but the BeSafe not as much as the others. My daughter used to slump her head in it but she suddenly seems to have worked out how to sleep in it more comfortably. I believe most of them recline, but I know the Britax Multi Tech doesn't.

My DD is in Britax First Class. It had to be reclined for rearward facing. Then can choose when forward facing. She loves it and is so comfy in it. It's won lots of safety awards I believe.

Hi the twe reclines a much as the baby carrier but is set when you install it. The kiss reclines like a ff seat and the hi-way reclines but is pre set too.
