OMG those Eurocamp tents now make it look like (how I imagine) a prisoner of war camp.

We came back today as the weather was so foul after having a lovely couple of days down there. We left our Monty behind to collect tomorrow as it was so wet - this way we can just bundle it loosely into the car without having to pack it around all the other stuff.

We got off lightly though; I saw a big Khyam collapsed in the middle with all the rain and several other people were flooded out and all their stuff soaked. Some people also got food poisoning from the fish and chip van that was on site last night, and all the electricity was off this morning too (even the showers).

Next time the weather forecast is bad I'm staying at home!

I am grateful we chose not to eat fish last night and that we own an outwell that hasn't failed us yet (except for some moisture coming up under the carpet as often happens when camping in torrential rain)

When the weather is nice I love Bracelands but I couldn't wait to get home today.

A lovely part of the country, but rain is a bummer

Well DH has gone to retrieve our tent this morning - I think he will be soaked through by the time he has it down and packed into the car.

We didn't book in advance we just fancied a jolly and drove down on Thursday. To be fair we had a lovely evening and most of Friday was glorious sunshine, but then it rained continuously (very heavily) throughout the night and then all day yesterday.

Thankfully we had the good sense to clear out yesterday morning! I don't think the groundsheets were coping so well with the wet ground and us tramping all over it - again we were saved from wet feet by our carpet.

The Eurocamp tents are all on the left hand side as you go through the gate. They are really sturdy looking Cabanon tents but they are all the same colour and just look so....ummm...drab.

mme not a big fan of the site even in good weather. To be honest it's a bit too big and impersonal, plus the wardens were none too helpful when we had a wailing ds at 2.30 in the morning (turn the lights of, don't make soo much noise, well if I open the gate to let you out then you can't come back in )
We are booked for another site nearby for next weekend, but am now instituting a new camping rule- if weather forecast is truly pants then don't bother

Well we have just got our copy of cool camping for kids and there are a couple of other sites around the welsh border that we might try out next time. Bracelands is just so handy for us as a quick get away as is only a 30-45 min drive away.

I am going to listen to the weather people next time - I told DH we should have gone last weekend

There seemed to be different wardens on Bracelands this year (judging by their accommodation changes anyway) - there seemed to be one good guy and one grumpy one . We certainly have never had any problems with the wardens though - even with DS2 screaming at all hours of the night.

I have never fancied Christchurch, it just looks so outdated and caravanny.
