Do I want to buy a tent and start camping?

We have banded the idea over the last few years...but ATM get free holidays every year with Haven so no motive.

DDs are 8, 8 and 3

why should we start camping. Isn't it just hassle to set up and pack away - especially for weekend breaks.

Sell it to me (or not).

quite simply.....yes....

Whilst haven is great for kids and hectic holidays, you cant beat:

  • the feeling you get when you unzip the tent in the morning to make that first cuppa before everyone gets up,
  • sitting watching people trot off to the bathrooms in their spotty dressing gowns and crocs,
  • having to wake the kids up for breakfast rather than the other way round,
  • cooking bacon & eggs every morning instead of cereal and toast,
  • Fresh air all day
  • Peace and quiet all around
  • BBQ every evening!!
  • Kids getting to bed early cos they are worn out from all that fresh air...
  • Fire pit and wine to finish off the day.

Camping is heaven (just ignore everything I said there if it's raining!!)

Are you going to continue to get free hols with Haven?

Camping is great, but one of the best things is it is so cheap! So if you get free hols with Haven then that is even cheaper.

Another plus with camping is that you can really please yourself eg cook your own food etc. You can do that at Haven too, and you have all the entertainments etc.

If the free hols are going to stop then I would definitely recommend camping, it is great! There is quite a lot of kit and quite a lot of setting up and putting away, but that is part of the fun.

We have bought a trailer tent this year and it is so much better than just a tent - all your stuff is stored in the trailer so packing to go is really easy and setting up is easier too. And there are proper beds to sleep on! You can get them quite cheap second hand.

Well when I say free I actually use my clubcard vouchers...but Haven have pulled out of the scheme now so we have to find an alternative (there are some alternatives with clubcard)
