Campingaz cylinder, can I drive to France with a full one?

Hi, thick question from first time Campingaz stove user.... have just bought a 2nd hand cylinder on Ebay (as new ones seem extortionate at £48!).
Apparently when we go to get a refill we'll get a new cylinder - is that true or will they fill up the old one?
I'm a bit concerned about travelling to France with a full one in the car - especially if it's the old (maybe dodgy) one we've just bought.
Am I being silly? Thanks.

yep you never get the same cylinder twice, and you'll be fine with taking one to France - they have an adapter so the gas can't escape!

well done on getting one cheaply though

thanks, that's great, set my paranoid mind at ease!
by the way I also need to thank you for showing where you are going camping in France this year - looking for a recommendation in the Dordogne, I followed your link and we are now booked at Les Valades for 2 weeks on 15th august!
It looked so fantastic, have you had recommendations/ heard much about it?

ooh how exciting! Shame we aren't there at the same time, we are there from the 23 July to the 5th Aug.

I have read some Dutch reviews (translated by Google so they made interesting reading ) but very little from the UK. I like the fact that it seemed smallish, lovely pool, good location (not too mnay English I hope) and dh insisted on a fishing lake!

We don't get back from France until Sun 16th Aug or I could have left you a review! I wonder if they have an internet connetion in Reception? - I could log onto MN and tell you all the info!

Of course if you don't like it then I didn't recommend it and I know nothing

Where are you travelling from?

Brilliant! Thanks for those Lucycat. I'm pretty sure it's going to be stunning - the correspondence i've had so far from the owners has been really good and there doesn't seem to be anything negative according to those reviews.

Can't wait till August - we are travelling from Surrey so going to do the drive over 2 days, just stopping for 1 night en route. Not sure where yet.

Hope your stay is fantastic! We must do UK reviews when we return, though of course if it's good, we won't want everyone booking it up for next year.....!!!
