I went there last year and loved it

IF you stay in the field by the road (so much noiser) then you are not right by the stream.

When we went there was an orange weather warning... the ford was too deep to be a ford and the river was running very fast... had even an adult fallen in they would have been probably washed away.

In all honesty i could not relax there with a 4 year old as yes they COULD quite easily fall in as the river goes right by the side past the field.
That said 2 familes with kids aged between 4 - 8ish all seemed to have a great time while we were there!

BUT the field is large enough that you could pitch on the other side nearer the war bunker thing and if you have the child who 'did as they were told' not have to be right by the river.

The site is gourgouse... the facilites are the most amazing barn conversion ever... granite work tops and everything. the cream teas are to die for! There would be loads of room for you to shower the child in the shower!

But yes you would be worrying that your child might drown, especially if it has rained heavily for the past week

(also although it didnt really rain much while we were there it was still quite muddy, but it had poured almost constantly for the previuse 2 weeks!)

Supposed to be nice but we wrote it off for the reason of the river (2 of ours have ASD and there's a toddler as well- rive a big no-no)

I know of broadway house which has a field site in peak season but is marked out at the rest of the year (except for strawberry field- you could go there perhaops)- has facillities but tehy are fairly self ontained so can easily be skipped we find. that's cheddar, a drive away but close enough.

Oh yes the other one- mendip heights, caravan and camping club. nothing bar toilets / showers and a tiny play area but all wonderfully clean and lovely site managers.

We're going here at the weekend. I've mainly picked it because it's easy to use public transport to get into Bath.

It's not too basic but nor does it feature 'entertainment'. It's our first camping expedition as a family (hired a VW camper ) so I had to sell the idea to dh and the best way to do that is peace & quiet with hot showers.
