waterproofs... for child in bike seat

OK, so this isn't exactly camping but i'm hoping someone can recommend good waterproofs for a toddler! We're going to taking DS (nearly 1) to nursery on DH's bike, whether weather is wet or dry. As well as keeping DS dry, I'm guessing that sometimes the bike seat itself may get wet, so the waterproof needs to be something that can cope with being against a wet surface.

Any suggestions? would an all in one be better, or separate trousers and jacket? Makes I've seen include Bushbaby, Spotty Otter, Muddy Buddy, Togz... anyone had any experience of these?

Thanks in anticipation...

muddy puddles are fantastic - the originals all-in-ones for under 2's and you could probably get one on ebay

we got a Regatta all-in-one for dd to use in the back carrier - cheaper but not as sturdy

Abeko jackets and dungarees and trousers are wonderful - VERY hard wearing.

Thanks for all the tips so far - will check eBay out, hadn't thought of that one.

Anyone else got any advice/opinions? Do you think an all-in-one wil work ok on possibly wet bike seat?

Yes -- the Muddy Puddles Originals waterproofs do exactly what they say. Child can sit down in a stream and the clothes underneath will not get wet.

Would highly recommend getting on ebay though, unless you're planning to have hordes of kids to pass them down through the family.

They come up mahooosive btw, so don't be tempted to buy a size up, however large your child is.

DS has had a set of Safetec jacket and dungarees from Raindrops since he was rising-2. It's been fantastic quality, keeps him bone dry even when he goes puddle-surfing, has worn incredibly well (a quick wash and it's like new), and I liked the fact that it's high-visibility from a safety point of view.

How odd. I was just thinking about this very subject today!

Does anyone make a kind of poncho affair that has an extra hole for the child?

Thanks again for all tips, will now go and lurk on eBay and see what turns up! Thanks also for tip about not buying bigger size for Muddy Puddles.

catweazle - re poncho, I know from babywearing circles that there are coats/ponchos for babywearing, but don't think they would work for bike seat as child would be much lower down...
