I won it!! I won my tent on Ebay. I'm so giddy

I was going to buy a Gellert tent from CCC and then I saw this on Ebay cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300239128514&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020

The height made it look very attractive, so we put in a bid of £30, then thought, it would be worth £40 to us, but no one else bidded (which isn't a proper word) so I got it for £30.

Woo hoo.

And I bought an Aldi's remote control lantern today for a tenner.

I'm a happy bunny. Sorry but I had to share....And my little girl wanted me to post on Mumsnet about something, so this was it!

Summer hols, here we come. If the rain could just stop now, we'd be larfing...

yay, It's so exciting when you get a new tent isn't it? I have come to the conclusion that I am an addict as we have 4, and I'm still searching for the perfect 2 weeker

I'm with you on the prayers for the rain god to have a holiday...

You're getting all tent porny, aren't you??

I've been talking to my friend in France about tent porn all week. I got the Featherdown Farm brochure (really top class tent porn) and we're now planning a trip for next year.

What is it about canvas (or the modern day equivalent) that's so damned fascinating. I just love wandering around camping shops. It's strangely addictive and quite relaxing. And expensive.

Oh well...off to find a decent camp bed...Have lovely holidays all!

Is this akin to comparing Aldi's and Waitrose? Tesco and Ocado? Crappy tents (like mine) and Cabanons???

It's not going to end up like a bf vs bottle argument is it? I'm heading to the hills (with my ickle tent of course).

Canvas:
smells like proper camping
warm (when cold)
cool(when warm)
quiet
lasts for years
no condensation
better sex
hair has more body
reduces weight by 2 stone
improves knowledge of physics and ancient history*

[last 4 anecdotal only]*

and polycotton has all of the below - or is that above

apart from the smell of camping aka mildew!

Squilly, your gelert looks great btw. perfect, easy up tent.

Report
Slubberdegullion · 11/07/2008 21:52

pah. Polycotton is 50% NOT CANVAS

therefore, you will have 50% less better sex, and 50% less good at Trivial Pursuits.

AND

Cabanon is FRENCH which gives you allure and appreciation of cheese

Put that in your pipe and smoke it outwell/netherland lover.

ahem Denmark acksherley.

your tent smells of cheese?!

poowee

er, no. My tent smells of meadows of lush fresh spring flowers, with a crystal clear spring running through.

It smells of warm summer nights and sun-cream and sandy feet.

It smells of freshly mown grass and soft summer rain and Pino Grigio and Barbequed lamb.

Your tent smells of your mum's bra.

RIGHT

THAT IS IT

At least my porch/canopy matches my tent.

And the sick was easily rid of thanks to my high end inflatable sleeping mats of deluxness.

yes yhr ground. And yet not yhr ground.

At one with the earth, and yet hips and buttocks plumped up on the restful comfort and insulating properties of the perfectly formed 'rest

What do you sleep on in the lake? A scattering of straw?

My thread is not ruined...I'm just glad someone answered (she said pathetically and tried to hide all the threads she's previously murderlated).

Anyway...back to the scrapping, which is very good.....See that man over there? Sleeping under two boxes with a blanket stretched between them? That's your tent that is. That's what your tent looks like.

Seriously, you two, get a room!!!

And if canvas could make me sophisticated and improve my sex life, I'd get a ton of it tomorrow. As things stand, I'll put up with my artificial nylon whatever it is and do the usual, chavvy behaviour and not tonight darling, I have a headache/whiskers on my legs that would make a lumberjack proud or the airbed will probably bust

Just thinking ahead!
