Clever hanging tips?

Just wondered if anyone had any clever tips for hanging wet stuff and general crap when camping?

Apart from taking a freestanding laundry airer does anyone have any clever ideas?

Could a make shift clothes line be fashioned between the guy ropes perhaps? That kind of thing....!

I string a washing line / rope between two trees or between the roof rails on the car and a tree, and then if it is raining rig a tarp over the top.

To be more detailed:

Secured the washing line to a tree / roof rails whatever, secure enough to take weight of wet stuff. Then at a higher level, above the line, pitch your tarp like a roof over the line using a king pole at each end and the tarp guy lines.

Poundland sell washing lines for camping with a hook on each end and pegs, or make you own with strong twine twisted and doubled back on itself, and poke the corners ofyour clothes through the twists to secure. I've hooked mine onto my tent roof happily before now.

Forlight items like swimwear or underwear or tea towels I use a laundry octopus (does it have a real name?!) Under s gazebo.

I found a lovely foldupable standing airer from Aldi or Lidl. Thought it was perfect then realised I don't take coat hangers camping!! Small car - nothing that is not compulsory!

I just have towels and stuff hanging like ghosts from the roof of the tent with pegs or on the guy lines outside. Would like something too.

Like an octopus but on some kind of hanging device...

On Cub camp, I string a line along the edge of the marquee for teatowels, and depending on whether I have remembered clothes pegs or not (they keep getting broken so I need new ones regularly), I'll double the string and twist it to have gaps to push the points of the towels through to secure them. I keep saying I will put up a proper washing line and get the Cubs to do some pioneering to make tripods to support it and we never have the time.

For camping with DD, we are usually on short trips (2-3 days) but usually have teatowels and also swim gear and big towels. Sometimes I run a line between the roof rail of the car and the tent (if I can park alongside the tent). Or between the 2 chairs when we are not using them. Out table has gaps between the metal slats and I sometimes make use of those. Sometimes I just pin them to the guylines of the tent (I know, bad practise) - but if I can't get anything else to work well.

Ikea octopuses (sp?) are great, I sometimes remember to bring one camping, we use 3 on our rotary line at home for socks etc!!
