August bank holiday - where to camp that won't be overcrowded/ grim?

I'm not looking for an oasis of tranquility, but the campsites fitting my criteria ( tents and motor homes, showers, toilets and electric hook up) all seem to have negative reviews about being horribly overcrowded on BH.
I want to camp with friends, Ideally somewhere between Midlands and northern England ( not Wales, roads too busy to get in there on BH) that is fun for kids of varying ages up to teens and will allow ball games. With set pitches as I'm not up for 'camp where you like in our field'
And why do all campsite either have a 'quiet by 10pm on pain of death' rule or 'noise all night long with kids/ music blaring' but not a sensible In-between status ?
Any suggestions please, or stories of your trips on August BH to put me off and realise it's not possible to have a fun normal camping trip on the busiest weekend of the year

Golden Valley campsite is set within 26 acres of woodland in Derbyshire.
The shower block and facilities are to a very high standard and are kept immaculate. The site is certainly geared around keeping the kids happy and giving the adults time to relax with fantastic play areas for the kids. An on-site café bar is available for lunch if you fancy a change from the barbeque. There are three play areas, bikes and segways to hire. An ice cream van might drive randomly into the park.
This is truly a fantastic site for anyone camping with children - a lot of thought and hard work has been put into the layout and facilities of the site. This secluded woodland site contains 24 larger pitches for caravans each having its own independent water supply, electric hook up point and mains drainage set in spacious bays within selected areas of the woodland. There is ample room for camping / tents also within the woodland.
If you have any queries or need any help during your stay the friendly staff will only be happy to help you. There is a bar located on the first floor level of the reception building and is open when the site is busy. The toilet block can be found within the caravan area and is kept impeccably clean at all hours of the day or night - hot water showers are plentiful and free!!!
The prices for a tent pitech or a caravan pitch is from £22 in low season and £30 in high season. This price includes 2 adults and one car. For each additional child please add £3 per child per night. Super pitches are available should you need a larger pitch at a slightly higher price.
