Camping

chair recommendations please!

Tell me what you really really like!
Our current plan (say if this is stupid) is to get one of those tables with stools that store underneath (movable), plus at the moment just one proper camping chair - DH says he'll make do with a stool.
What should I get? I'd like something:

  • sturdy enough for me plus a child on lap (up to about 90kg I guess)
  • comfortable: for me this means not too short a seat - I hate it when the chair front digs into my legs
  • the sort of thing you can slob about in rather than sit upright seriously
  • packs away nice and small.

Ideas??

anybody? they all seem either huge and heavy and cumbersome, or so light that I think they'll break...

I have this one - I like curling up in a chair, and its big enough to snuggle with a child

ooh, that does look nice. I know what will happen though, I'll NEVER get it to myself! but too comfortable is definitely a fault on the right side.
Any other super-campers have recommendations?

We have these very comfortable even when smothered with a child.

I have one of those low sort, which I find very comfortable for sitting around the fire in.

I did recently try a very padded lounger sort which was blissful. From Amazon apparently. I wouldn't have space for it in my car. :(

Where did you get your low sort uterus? (love the name btw, reminds me of the appetisingly titled dish 'spicy sour virgin pork pork uterus' in a restaurant in China once) I've always been firmly in the sitting on the ground/a log camp, but have to admit I've envied chairs when the weather's not so good, or when everyone else is in a chair...

I have these but I'm thinking of getting the padded sort.

I did break one this weekend, but I flopped into it, and I have a BMI of 31. Blush

It's like sitting on the floor, only better!

We have these. They are very comfortable and I can curl up in it with my book.

great ideas, thank you v much. We have decided we have to go to a shop this weekend so I will be able to try some things out - is amazing how much they vary. Am most tempted by the moon chairs, I have visions of being able to curl up in one for hours, reading... mmm.

Thanks uterus, shall check those out, and padded ones too. Sitting on the floor but better is exactly what I'm after. Wish I hadn't just seen these as they look amazing (can convert into a rocking chair!) but waaaay too expensive, considing I have three jumpy boys who are likely to jump on it/me in it, and trash the thing within minutes.

Didn't try the dish, no, but have always wondered whether it would have been worth breaking my 25 years of vegetarianism for (though suspect I inadvertantly did just that, multiple times while travelling through China). 'Frog Dippen in Floor' was on the same menu. Yum. Grin

Even my husband, who said it was a very bad idea and bonkers extravagance has hardly got out of it all weekend.
