Hi all,

Looking for tent inspiration, we are two adults and two pre-schoolers. I don't want an enormous house tent but do want something with bedrooms and main living area divided. I want to do weekends away so would like to get a fairly simple set up. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

We're in a similar situation and have just bought a Vango Arc 400+ which seems to be great so far.
There's only one bedroom but the overall size of the tent isn't crazy, it's easy to pitch and strike and has a very large spacious porch. Plus we got a pretty colour!

After the weekend we've just had my next tent will be a Coleman with blackout bedrooms! We had fabulous weather and a brilliant time but I need my child to sleep! I'm trying to convince DH at the moment but as we only bought a new tent last summer, I'm not getting very far Hmm

Thanks elpth I'll check the Vango out, pretty colours sound enticing!

Ha Flip, been there. My daughter was about 18m and could not get to sleep then got so over tired you went into a massive meltdown at about 10pm when everyone on the site was quiet. She then woke at 5am and her dad had to go on a long walk as she would not be quiet. I adore camping but yes blackout would be great. Maybe that's where I should start.

We've got an Outwell Oregon 5 Tent ...no longer in stock, but I'm sure they must do an updated version. It has 3+2 bedrooms, zipped together and a spacious living area.

We (2 large adults and a five year old) have a Decathlon Quechua Arpenaz 5.2. It's great. Easy to pitch, spacious and well made. Just got back from the Normandy monsoon season and stayed dry - although we did get the odd drip after 5 days horizontal rain.

We have this m.gooutdoors.co.uk/vango-anteus-600-famly-tent-p290250&gclid=CLeWzLSqtc4CFVQo0wodApgK6Q&gclsrc=aw.ds also 2 adults and 2 under 5's. It's a great tent with room to grow

We have an Outwell Monterey 5 - got it secondhand on ebay and it was superb during recent camping trip with weather that you might have expected on the Atlantic Convoys. Good sized living area which was handy when huddled inside!

Vango Iris has good living space and full walking height. Very quick to pitch. Also Icarus.
We have always used Vango for weekend tents because they are light and well made (usually). I'd be wary of special editions through: they are sometimes a bit flimsy to get the price down for certain shops to have an 'exclusive model'.

We have a Vango Icarus 600 in blue. It's very easy to put up and very spacious. I don't think you can get that model anymore but Vango still do similar ones.

We have the Vango Stamford 800.

For DH and I and two preschoolers it's perfect.

Fairly large living area with room for picnic table to be up all the time.

Can be 2-4 bedrooms.

We have it as 3 bedroom. Large bedroom for DH and I (we have a large and deep bed).

1 smaller bedroom for DDs who are more than happy to share and the other smaller bedroom as storage.

Re blackouts - I've had some success with using self adhesive velcro to attach some black out curtain fabric to the inside of the tent .

I used the soft facinf side on the tent so as not to collect fluff when packing .

My friend has an amazing vango tunnel tent with a big living area and also a covered porch which is great for cooking.

Something like a Vango Icarus 500 or 600 should suit. Quick to put up, spacious, good value, Vango are wood quality.

You could always get a separate pop up to put in the sleeping area - the fresh n black decathlon pop up is amazing - 100% dark! Best sleep ever
