Best way to sell an Outwell tent?

We have an Outwell Trout lake 4 tent, bought pretty much on a whim, much loved but rarely used.

I think we need to sell it now - DH says he's too old to go camping!

I have asked at the store we bought it from who could only suggest eBay. Are there any camping specific sites that we could advertise it on?

There are a few camping selling sites on Facebook. Tent Talk Selling has a lot of members. Gumtree? Otherwise Facebook local selling pages often have tents

I've sold a few tents on Ebay and got very good prices with buyers willing to travel and collect. I've also bought tents on there, mostly bargains as I'm getting better at setting limits for myself, but I went over the odds last year for a small pop-up of a particular brand that I really wanted and was very local to me.

The good thing about Ebay for sellers is that both experienced campers and novices looking for a first tent use it. Camping sales sites tend to be used more by experienced campers who know exactly what they want, and there's also less traffic there.

I'd also say don't sell it yet, leave until the weather is warmer and people's thoughts (and friends) turn to being outdoors. Make sure you photograph it on a lovely, sunny day with a nice view behind it. I sold a tent last year for way more than I paid for it mainly because I photographed it on a picturesque campsite at sunset. It wasn't entirely intentional but it certainly seemed to work!

Good luck - why not post a link here in case any MNers are looking for a tent?

I might buy a tent (possibly may be one of my impulse fixations though) if you'd like to post a link?

EBay is good at the moment for selling tents. Everybody is getting ready for the next season and tents are going for a fair amount. I've just sold mine for £50 more than I paid for it. It's hassle, but if you offer to courier you'll get a good price. Just add lots of photos and copy the specs for the manufacturer website

I am shortly going to put my tent on ebay and notice you say it helps to offer to courier it but I do not know who to use any suggestions on a courier ?

Thanks

Interparcel or parcel2go. Worth paying slightly more to make sure you're fully insured

It's in a cupboard at the moment and hasn't seen the light of day for several years. I had fond ideas that our sons would like to use it when they have families of their own.

A good suggestion about photos and maybe waiting for a while. It will need thoroughly checking before we go any further with a sale anyway.

I'm not sure where we could take the photo - it's almost the same size as our back lawn!

Take it to the park and pitch it there if no space in the garden - take photos (things like bunting/furniture etc seems to help!!) of it front back inside and out and ALL tears/marks. Be honest in description. We have sold a couple and bought a couple in eBay, always collection only and got good prices...this is the best time, building to about Easter weekend! Good luck and try not to be tempted to buy another...we have found outsells are a bit addictive!!

There are a couple of Outwell Facebook pages that might be worth a try too.
