Can anyone recommend anywhere - have found the C & CC site at Walton - don't fancy it much as I am doing a one day course and would like a shower!

I had planned on driving on the day but if I could find a site we would all go for the weekend.

Anywhere within 30-45 minutes would do. Quiet, minimal facilities (as in a loo & shower), fires a bonus.

Laleham. I haven't camped there, but drive past it often. Nice location, right on the river.

Or the Chertsey C & CC site? Appreciate both of these might be a bit busier than you'd hope, but can't think of much else around this area!

Thank you both, I have found somewhere in Cheam on camp in my garden which I am looking into but if not I think I might go for one of the ones suggested.

I have found Cookham Lock (25 miles away) - quirky and quiet but can't work out how far you have to carry your stuff! Have written to the 'river people' to ask!

Also Horsley Campsite - only 12 miles away - looks ok.

Both on Cool Camping which I don't use much (since learning that you just have to pay to be in/on Cool Camping). I am very uncool.

Well, I have booked Cookham Lock - it appeals to my hermit like, no facilities tendencies, 5 tents on an island!

1/2 a mile walk from the car park although one of us will have to arrive by canoe from a bit further down the river as we won't want to trolley it that far!

Amazing what you can find on tinternet!

Look at this Daisy

A bit old but not much changed apparently - great to get the canoe out somewhere new although I am going to the Royal School of Needlework for the day so don't want to arrive too dishevelled/stinking of stagnant water so I will be trotting across the common to the car in the morning!
