It turns out our new tent leaks like a bugger!

Certainly when it rains non-stop for 24 hours Hmm any idea how to make it more waterproof? It mostly leaks around where the tags and toggles are sewn in. Any tips for next time?

You could try sealing the joints and toggles with tent sealant.

To do this properly you need to erect tent when the tent its self is dry and its not raining or likely to.

Apply sealant as per instructions and leave 24 hours to dry. Packing away early will mean you could "glue" your tent together and damage it.

Did you buy it new? Or second-hand? If new, surely it's not fit for purpose?

either
1 - take it back and complain
or
2- you may well find it will be watertight in future - one real drowning may mean the fibres have swelled and it is now ok

think I'd be going for taking it back though

Sadly I can't take it back as it was sold as seen. Tent sealant sounds good though Smile

What tent is this? I've recently bought one with the same issue which I repaired
