What's a DEEWAARD?

Something I read about on another camping thread, apparently one must have one, but any amount of googling doesn't help.

Put me out of my misery please and tell me!

And now I want a buff too. Where can I get a pale blue one?!

Don't even know that, Itsjustafleshwound!
It's on the really big camping thread on this board. I'm fairly new to camping and I want to learnt more and buy some more camping goodies

Googling, it is a make of tent De Waard

Sure that slubber will be along in a minute to comment, but a De Waard is the most awesome-ness of tents. True tent porn. Google de waard albatross, but be prepared to have to sell relatives or body parts to afford one ...

Grin beautiful aren't they the Dutch camp so well. All taut canvas loveliness with straight clean lines, many orderly guy lines and not a windbreak or sadface limp string of bunting in sight

I am lucky enough to have been to the showroom in Holland where I stroked them all. Was a happy day for me.

Sadly they cost a fortune new, weigh a fucking tonne, would take up the entire boot of your car and the worst thing is, which is a major design fault imo are all sigs rather than zigs.

I have a 3x4m pyramid and she while wonderful to camp in, is an utter fucker to pack away when wet. You have to repitch to dry properly. Fine if your tent takes 15-20 mins to put up like ours, not fine if your albatross takes an hour.

So yes, they are things of great beauty and if I had a trailer and planned to camp in hot dry Forrin every year I'd be onitlikeacarbonnet, as someone said once.

A buff is a tube of technical wicking fabric that you wear as a scarf/hat/beany/headband/snood/whatever. V good for keeping heads warm, hair out of face, biting insects off your head etc. love a bit of buff action chez campsite.

albatros met varioluifel

Tis nothing without the varioluifel! Want, want, want ... Despite having pretty fabby cabanon biscaya and two almost elf-like camping children.

Not being smug, but I've got 4....... (the latest is on my profile pics)
An albatross with a sun canopy
A very old zilvermeuuw ( herring gull - like the Albatross's big brrother) with a tear in the side ( sob)
A smaller zilvermeuuw I bought by mistake thinking it was a big one, which I haven't used
And a brand spanky new extra large zilvermeuuw with side walls and a varioleouffel. I have sent it up since April and I still say how much I love it to anyone prepared to listen.
I bloody love that tent, I do. I love it.

I like the Short-eared Owl and the Bird of Paradise. Not sure about the Albatross.

slubber only now I'm coming back to the thread and I've just snorted tea over my keyboard. You are v v passionate, I can tell.

I'm v grateful for the buff link btw, I quite fancied a pale blue one. Would that be a Ben fogle one, do you reckon?

I am NettleTea's padawan when it comes to De Waards. I just lust from afar, she has actually got some. Oooh at brand new zilvermeuuw Envy

Pale blue buff most tasteful and not at all Ben fogle unless you are Ben Fogle in which case it will look lovely on you mate.

Shut it bramble with your digs.

Only when it comes to de waards though slubber, as I am a self confessed wimp when it comes to the real camping.
