Might this be useful? About to nip and get one, plus a table. It seems to be the right size for my new!!! soulpad, but is LCD a bit ... modern?

We've got a similar thing for the pole, except it's lots of little LED lights.
I don't especially like the LED but it is useful and fits just right.

Thanks. Sorry, yes, LED not LCD! (At least I didn't ask about LSD!)

I bought it, then realised they were selling the same thing but a pound cheaper in Poundstretcher... Oh well. They also have 2x50 white solar fairly lights for £12, I'm sure that's cheaper than where I got mine. Never mind.

LCD a teensy bit harsh for me, but thanks for the tip.

I usually curl DD's butterfly solar fairy lights around the tent pole, v. pretty and some light given, but no good for trying to read by.

On that note, Wilkos are doing clip-on book lights in their 'travel' section for £1.98, battery included. I got one for DH and it worked a lot better over last weekend than the posh expensive version I bought him for Christmas did!

We use a normal battery lantern and use a bungy cord to attach it to the pole.
Works quite well and gives off a lot of light, but be careful about casting shadows Grin
