Infant feeding

breastfed and solid poo

DD is 5 mths and ebf. This morning she did 2 solid poos, about the size and shape of brazil nuts. The second solid poo was found in a nappy also full of slightly green mucasy poo (the green mucasy bit happens every so often). When I wiped her, the wet wipe has a slight trace of blood on it.

NHS direct have said that it's ok, she is her same old self, doesn't seem ill at all.

has this happened to anyone else? I'm still not 100% reassured....

Obviously cannot diagnose anything but it sounds like she is constipated for some reason and the force of it might have caused a slight cut? From the description it sounds very similar to my DD when she was weaning but that is different as food is involved.

I am not sure...I didnt think bf babies got constipated in that way or did poos like that until solids were introduced. Only summising - have you eaten anything different?

Sorry I am pretty useless! If it is different to normal and you are worried give the HV / GP a ring tomorrow?

thanks peppapig, think she might be constipated or a bit dehydrated cos of the weather. Have left a message with the HV, but think she may be on hols...
