My HV recommended I do the bf peer support training :)

She was overjoyed to find I had already applied! I am now much more positive about the HV support of bf near where I live, though there is the NN who loves to advocate early weaning still to convert ;)

Really though, I am pleasantly surprised and can't wait to start training in Sept. I am doing it with the local Childrens' Centre. Has anyone else trained recently?

I'd be interested in hearing more, not training at the moment but thinking about it. My local HV also asked me to do it, is it the ABM mother supporter thing?

At the time I said no as I was weaning DS off top ups of EBM for poor weight gain. Or as I put it, oh no, I'm not good enough at breastfeeding for that.

Now he is 7mo, BF going well I'm a bit more tempted

You don't have to be "good at" breastfeeding to support other mums But probably better that you're not as stressed by it any more!

I went along to the breastfeeding cafe at the children's centre, which was surprisingly hard to find as it wasn't advertised anywhere, so I had to phone the Children's Centre who then told me about it. Once I had been along a couple of sessions I asked about the training - I'm not sure who does the actual training but I will be doing voluntary work for the Children's Centre when it is finished.

I've just finished training as a helper with the BFN. Will start training as a supporter in September.
