Infant feeding

Blocked duct help please

I'm pretty sure I have a blocked duct - red tender patch on one boob. I've been doing all the usual stuff, feeding plenty on that side, gentle stroking towards the nipple when feeding, hot shower and it feels very much less sore now.

The problem is that the area is still very red and hot, should I be worried that it hasn't eased at all? It's been about 24 hours since it all started. I don't feel ill as such, just a bit of a headache but that could be the weather, the sleep deprivation, not enough water etc etc!

DD2 is 7 weeks old; I had mastitis when I was feeding DD1 and really don't want to repeat that.

I had the same thing with my second baby - sounds like the beginning of mastitis. I would get yourself checked out - you don't want it developing.

Hope it clears up quickly!

Thanks - I was thinking that it could be the beginning of mastitis, but not sure at all because of the lack of pain now and no illnes/fever as well. Puzzled.

Sounds like mastitis - I had it just over a week ago and I had no fever at all. I got antibiotics and it cleared up really quickly. x
