Blocked duct or scary lump?

I am feeding 18mth dd just mornings and bedtimes now, have been doing this for ages so my supply has adjusted and my breasts and very rarely "full" or hard any more.

A couple of months ago I got what I would have said was a "classic" blocked duct - hard, engorged breast, uncomfortable, red patches - it took a few days and lots of MN advice but finally cleared. Now I have something which seems different, breats are still there saggy sorry old selves, but in one I have a hard sausage-ish lump. It feels exactly the same as it does when your breasts are full/engorged, but only at this one localised bit, and its soft all around.

I will obviously go to the GP and get this checked next week if no change, not looking for an online diagnosis, but just wondered if anyone had any experience of having a blocked duct like this?

Dosen't sound like a classic blocked duct to be honest. I would go and get yourself examined if it dosen't settle within a few days.

I have a hard bit since having children, though I never breast fed. Sounds like the same sort of thing you describe.

It seems to go up and down (and become more tender) around the time of my period.

I went for a mammogram and it was fine - just a change in breast tissue.

Obviously you're going to have it checked. Just want you to hear a positive story!

I am a bit confuddled now, as after spending half an hour after tea googling breast lumps and generally fearing the worst, I fed DD before bed and it has now disappeared!

It was rock hard, now it's nothing, how very bizarre - will just keep an eye out.

One benefit of bf-ing for me has definitely becoming more familiar with my boobs, I wasn't great at checking them before.
