All my babies (4 of them) fell asleep on the breast until the time they stopped, youngest 10 months, oldest 15 months. I did not have any sleep problems with any of them. Let her carry on.

I presume you are worried about sleep problems - I wouldn't be as it's obviously working for you. Make sure you keep her teeth clean though.

bobbybob - I wouldn't waken a sleeping baby to clean their teeth. Breastmilk is not a problem for babies teeth IME.

yse it is OK to demand feed. Mine were always completely asleep when I put them down to bed at night. I loved the bath, feed them till they are snoring routine at night. I would put them down for a sleep in their cot during the day, not always with a feed when they were weaning. I love a snuggled sleeping baby at the breast

I know I adore BF it feels like such a wonderful gift to give my LO (how cheesy is that?) Another thing how do you get round naps when you are out visiting? dd is too big for her baby seat so now has a big girls car seat

I would either just hold onto babe when sleeping or lay them on a sofa next to me. There is usually some place you are offered to lie them down.

Elliesmoomoo.....think about this way. I'm gonna come to your house, and stop you feeding or drinking on demand. If you have a cup of tea, or coffee, or a snack, or a sandwich, I'm gonna look at the clock and remind you that it was only 2 hours since your last cup of tea, and you can't possibly need that biscuit now. From now on, you have a drink/snack only at the times I tell you to, which will be decided by me, and which will mean you only ever have a drink with meals, and these are at the same intervals every day. Oh, and you can only have cuddles from the important people in your life at certain times of the day, too. If you ask for one at the wrong time, you will be told to wait until the clock tells you.

Daft, eh?

Breastfeeding beyond the newborn stage is not expecially time consuming, and it still provides the food, drink, snacks, cuddles all human beings need. As your baby gets older, you don't have to drop everything to feed if your baby asks - they can wait a little while if you are on the phone or driving or whatever, or you can offer something else, such as a rice cake or a banana in your case.

It's not really 'demand feeding' when a baby gets to 7 months....it's more like just living your life
