can you have breast thrush while pregnant and not breastfeeding

I am 12 weeks pregnant and my breasts are already starting to make milk. I am in complete agony and my nipples are very itchy and sensitive. I was not like this in my last pregnacy.

Anyway I gave up breastfeeding my son four years ago because of breast thrush. Do you think its possible for a pregnant woman to thrush in her breasts even if she is not currently breastfeeding

Yes it's possible - go see your GP!

You obviously know it's treatable - even in pregnancy - so don't suffer like this! Go get help

Hopefully you've already been to the docs but yes it's definitely possible, if not treated the thrush can become very persistant. I had it during pregnancy but didn't do anything about it and have spent my first 4 weeks of breastfeeding in absolute agony. Would recommend dilute vinegar nipple bathing, garlic, acidopholus (sp) and grapefruit seed extract for the rest of your pregnancy as well. Hope you get it sorted.
