Hiya

As the title suggests I want to introduce expressed milk to my 6 week old. Got the pump and bottles in the steriliser.

How much milk should I express for each bottle and any advice on getting her to take it but still breastfeed at other times.

Going out for lunch tomorrow and can't breastfeed in the restaurant.

Ta all

Why can't you bf in a restaurant?

Its not the kind of place that would look too kindly on my getting my boob out to feed little one.

Have done it in other restaurants so its not like I'm a prude or anything.

What bottles have you got? I got the tommee tippee closer to nature ones and DD has no trouble going between bottle and breast.

Yes you can keep it in the fridge.

Thanks, yeah got one of the tommee tippee ones (came with pump) and 2 mothercare ones (came with steriliser) only thought we'd use them in an emergency so didn't buy anymore than that.

rock, I found mine would only take about 4oz of ebm, think I tried it at about 8 weeks as was going into hospital and needed to know she would take a bottle.
I would try and express 4 or 5 oz and sure that would be enough.
I have to say though, if it isn't then just feed! I have fed in all sorts of places (including a very posh place in France). If I ever felt people were truly upset then I think I did once go to the car and feed there and then fume at myself for feeling self conscious!! Hope you enjoy your lunch.

Have to say, if I thought a place would frown on public bf, I would probably go out of my way to bf there! But that's just me!

Expressing is easiest first thing in the morning IMO

There areen't any restaurants you can't bf in IMO.
Fair enough if you'd prefer not to but if you think it would be easier than the expressing & bottles faff then please just bf!

It is, after all, very posh breastmilk
"This isn't just breastmilk...this is M&S breastmilk"
