Infant feeding

LO frustrated with let down and flow

LO is 5 months this week and has always been a very quick but fussy feeder. Over the last week or so, he seems to bob on and off for 15 secs or so until let down starts, and then will stay on for maybe 30 secs - 1 min before starting to cry and fuss. I then need to change side and the same thing happens - feeds ok for 30 secs - 1 min and then starts to fuss again. I then change side again and he feeds for maybe 15 seconds or so before wanting to change again.

Sooo, he's now getting 5 or 6 sides per feed, and combined with him being so distracted it's becoming really difficult to feed him in public.

Is there anything I can do to keep my milk flowing faster for longer? I tried breast compression which I'd read about but it doesn't seem to be making much difference?

Ironically, my fast letdown used to choke him and cause wind problems when he was younger, but he obviously now prefers it that way!

could he be going through a growth spurt? if so things should settle down in a few days - switching breasts would stimulate your supply (irritating for you though!)
