Is BFing my toddler making my morning sickness worse?

I'm still BFing my 21 month old DD morning and night. I have terrible morning sickness, exhausted and flu like. I know GP/MW will say to give up BFing. I thought BFing could make morning sickness better not worse! I feel twice as bad as I did with DD and just want to be in bed 24 hours a day.

I'm presuming baby gets first priority, then BFing toddler then me - definitely not enough left for me at the moment. I'm taking supplements but finding it difficult to keep food down.

BFing can make you feel sick (it did me), but only while you are actually BFing iyswim. It shouldn't contribute to morning sickness being worse all round if you are eating well.

there is some information on kellymom about nursing when pregnant and tandem nursing.

No need to give up if either you or DD aren't yet ready for it.

i think morning sickness always feels worse when you are running around after other DCs, especially the crushing fatigue side of things as you don't have the same luxury of resting as you did with a first pregnancy.

Congratulations on your pregnancy smile

Thanks so sick had to be prescribed medicine by GP today. Too ill to give DD her morning feed, and she surprisingly didn't seem to miss it, DH gave her breakfast instead. So I think I will cut down to just the evening feed and see how we go.

Tapster - i feel your pain. i'm also bf-ing my 19 month old and pregnant and my MS is really bad. My GP wouldn't give me any drugs for it as they're all contra-indicated during breastfeeding, apparently. hmm

Hope you feel better soon. I'm finding smoothies and soups help as they're easy to digest and don't taste too vile when they come back up! (Sorry!)

I need to check if I can take the drugs I felt so ill when I went to see the GP that I forgot to remind him I'm BFing - most advice about drugs and BFing are over cautious though, however the drugs seem to keep me awake last night so I might not continue to take them.

Wouldn't have thought they'd be related. I still feed lots and didn't get ms at all.
