Am I going to have to buy breast pads until I stop bf?

This is my second baby and I don't remember having such leaky boobs with the first. I feel like I am spending a fortune on breast pads ....my ds is 6 months now and plan to feed him for at least another 6 months

Mine stopped around 6 months. I remember feeling the same as you and then suddenly one day I realised that I hadn't worn breastpads for ages. I used washable ones and some days struggled with absorbancy.

I hope you stop leaking soon.

it does stop soon (about 9 months for me IIRC). I leaked loads and didn't get on with reusables either.

I got on better with the reusables then I did the dispoables. I had leaky boobs last week and haven't bf for 4 months!

I remember feeling this way when DS was a baby. In fact I remember throwing away a lot of tops thinking I wouldn't be able to wear them again as they showed the breast pads though them ....which of course I now completely regret because I did stop leaking eventually & then had nothing nice to wear in the summer . I don't exactly remember when I stopped needing pads though...

I used disposable breast pads for a few weeks then bought a pile of mens hankies, folded them to put in my bra and they just went in the wash. I could just stuff as many in as I needed!
After bf they are great when your kids get to the snotty stage...
I preferred using washable as you can change them as often as you like - I found that I left disposable ones in longer than I might have done if I wasn't having to pay for each one

Men's hankies - thats a good idea - did they show through your bra or where they nice and thin?

I feel abnormal or under supplied! My boobs haven't leaked since dd2 was 6-7wks old unless I haven't been able to feed her immediately she needed feeding iyswim. Oh and if I expressed one day at a certain time and didn't the next iyswim.

About 6-7 months. Virtually no leaking at all and am feeding my dd14mo about 4 times a day and a couple of times during the night. I found disposables better.

I stopped needing them at five months - but I was using cloth nappy liners, folded in half -much more absorbant, they don't show up as much and you can fling them in the wash without worrying about your washing machine pipes.

i stopped leaking about 4-5 months but have recently started a wee bit again (ds now 10 months). dont really understand why as nothing particular has changed recently. glad i hadnt chucked all the breast pads away.
