Vitamins needed?

I've just been to the clinic to get my DD weighed and the HV told me that as I'm STILL BF my 8 months old DD she won't be getting enough vitamins from me and needs to have vitamin drops. Now, I have a tendency to trust you guys more than the HV so can anyone tell me if this is true. She also has 3 meals a day as well as BM 5 x a day.

Thanks.

Exclusive bf past 6 months can be associated with vitamin D deficiency, but you are including solids, so that's not you. I give vitamin drops to my DS - we bf to 21 months and started solids at 5.5 months - to avoid vit D deficiency, but that's my choice. If you give formula it is vitamin D fortified. I don't know about other vitamins.

The only evidence for a need for vits is indeed Vit D, but mainly because in northern Europe we get so little sunlight and modern lifestyles mean some of us go short...esp if you have black or brown skin. But there is lots of this in the archives, peacemaker, and you can decide for yourself.

Thanks, looks like she doesn't need multivitamins just as I suspected. The HV kind of looked down her nose at me for still BF which I was surprised at, almost but not quite a sneer.
