Extra bf for poorly dd?

Hi, my dd is 13 mths and for the past couple of months has been bfing only morning and evening as I have gone back to work. Today she is off colour with a cold and a bit of a temperature and my instinct is to give her an extra feed in the daytime - however I'm worried that it might confuse her to start this again and that she will then miss it when she goes back to the childminder and doesn't have it. What do you reckon?

i'd go for it. another option is maybe to express and give it in a cup? that way it's just a drink for her, without the confusion of a bf IYSWIM. however, a proper bf may well be very comforting for her.

If she is poorly I would give her the extra bf, she may not want it but at least you tried!

Hope she feels better soon.

Hi

I don't think it'll confuse her any more than extra cuddles would when she's not herself.

I did this with both ds and dd at this age when they were ill and it made a huge difference - especially if they were eating well. Extra antibodies too

She wouldn't expect milk from the childminder anyway - she'll only look to you for that.

I think an proper b/f rather than expressed would be great.

think of it as the 13 month old version of chicken soup, a blanket and sitting on the sofa with a b/w film.

Hope she's feeling better soon

Do it, it is the best thing for her! She never has it at the childminders so she won't expect it there.
