With DS1 I put the water in first. Then spoon the formula in. I'd flick the spoon to level it off, rather than using a knife. Hated making bottles up as I was always worried that I'd mis-counted the spoonfuls. DS2 is BF so I've not done any of that for a while.

I make them up on the morning for the whole day and when DD need night feeds I made the night feed and 1st morning feed up in the evening. I know it's not the givernment guideline but I wasn't planning to bottle feed so had no idea about the new guideline. And just did what I'd seen my friends do in the past. I use aptimil which has a nice level bit as part of the container.

made them up in advance and stuck them in the fridge for a while, tehn realised i was throwing away more than dd was drinking, so then started using a powder dispenser to dispense it into the bottles of pre boiled water..

guidlines recommend making each bottle freshly, with boiled water, left to cool for 40 mins, if you do a search, you'll find lots about it

best way:

boil water in the morning, fill each bottle with about 60 percent of what she;ll need, store it room temp (no powder yet). when baby is hungry freshly boil water again and top up a bottle : so you have the mornings water -room temp- plus fresh boiled hot water= bottle at perfect temp, just add powder. this way its warm AND fresh and takes seconds to make. when out 7 about take a flask with boiling water and bottles of room temp water and a powder dispenser.
