Formula for BF baby after 12 months

DC is almost 1 and has been breastfed only. I bought some formula for when I had to travel and wasn't sure if my expressed milk would be enough. It turned out to be so I never used it. I'm planning to stop pumping at work after the Christmas holidays and I can't decide if I should give the formula as a BM replacement or just go straight to cow's milk. I will continue to directly BF morning and bedtime for a few months more so she'll get those nutrients.

With my older DC I went to cow's milk during the day when I stopped pumping as that's what we had in the house and she liked it. My hesitation is that with DC2 if I start with the formula and she likes it or worse prefers it to cow's milk, I'm entering myself into a bit of a financial commitment and faff of making up formula bottles that I don't really have to be in.

So what would you do?

There’s absolutely no need for formula after one. I agree with you, if you give the formula then you’re going to have to switch her to Cows milk eventually so you’re making more work for yourself.
