milk gone off??

I have a decent ish freezer supply that I have built up in prep for going back to work. just defrosted some breast milk that I froze at the end of April to use on ds weetabix as we ran out of cows milk so its less than 3 months old (this is the oldest I have used it as previously with a smaller stash it has only been rotated after a month or so).

however I noticed it had a slightly soapy smell to it which I believe can mean it's gone off?
is it possible that it's gone off after just 3 months in the freezer? we have a decent freezer and no problems with it that I'm aware of. would it be safe to use still?

You may have high levels of lipase in your milk and may need to scald your milk before freezing

thank you. I didn't know that!!
strange though that this is the first time I have noticed it but then I guess so probably haven't used milk this old before. hoping baby doesn't mind it or else there is alot of milk going to go to waste

I had this too OP I think it was excess lipase. DS pulled a face and I tasted it, gross! I stopped BFing soon after that but will take note of the scalding thing for next time.
