Bleeding under areola?

ds2 is 5 1/2 weeks old, and feeding has so far been going very well. Until this morning when I woke up to find a raised patch about 8mm diameter on the top of my right areola where it looks like it's been bleeding under the surface. There's no surface damage, it doesn't hurt to touch it, although it does feel a bit firmer than the surrounding tissue, and feeding is still pain free. And this evening ds2 has started fussing a lot when feeding from that side. Anyone got any idea what's going on?

could just be a blood blister. it should go away on its own
