My son is 5 weeks old

After and during every feed he is extremely sick to the point we have to use towels as sick blankets because of the amount he is sick. He also kicks his legs and cramps up like it’s hurting his belly and is extremely windy.

First we were given gaviscon which didn’t help what so ever. I was the given a tablet which I have to dosolve in cool boiled water and give him through a syringe. This also didn’t help.

We have now been given Aptamil pepti 1 formula to try however have only been using this for 4 days but as of yet does jot seem to have made a difference he is still really sick and seems to now be waking more often at night then he did earlier

Anyone been through this have any advice ??

Also waitin for a referral to a pedatrition

My cousin had this same issue with her little one she later found out that it was because of an allergy to dairy this might be the case here too.

It looks like your GP suspects CMPA too as the formula prescribed is for babies who have CMPA. This milk still contains milk though, it’s just that the proteins have been broken down to hopefully make them more digestible.

It sounds as if a completely dairy free formula needs prescribing. A soy formula wouldn’t work as around half of all people with CMPA also have an allergy to the protein in soy as the molecules are so similar.

I’d go back to the GP and take the allergy uk information and ask for an earlier appointment with the Paed and a DF formula.

There’s a useful allergy section on MN too Smile

It took 2 weeks of both dairy free formula and reflux medication together for my daughter to improve. She wasn’t sick but had silent reflux and got to the point where she was barely feeding and losing weight.
