Supper for 14 month old?

babygirl2016 · 12/01/2018 21:04

My lo is 14 month and has started having her tea at 4.30 pm and by the time it is half six when We go up for bath time she starts crying her eyes out for the bottle then wakes in the night so tinight I gave her tea at 4.30pm then at 5.30pm she had half a slice Of toast and then had an 8 oz bottle before bed at 7 pm so it seems maybe she wanted supper as she had that and the same amount of milk but would it be ok to give her half a slice toast every night for supper? Or should I be giving her different suppers?

Any advice please?

Thank you

Have you tried moving supper so it’s a little later? If that doesn’t work for you, toast is fine or any food that you would use as a snack.

Porridge is a good one. Keeps them full up.

My 15 month old DS has his tea very early at nursery and by the time I’ve picked him up and got home he’s hungry again. I usually give him porridge, wheatabix or rice pudding.

Hi op. Can you move her tea later? Or make it larger? I usually give my DS full fat Greek yoghurt and fruit for his pudding which he wolfs down. I figure that will help keep him full, even if he picks at his tea.

I’d say toast for supper is just fine. Same as others above, we also do weetabix or porridge with full fat milk. That would be more filling than toast.

Plus some days they are just more hungry than others!

I would probably give her a snack at 4:30 or whenever you give her tea now and then offer her a proper supper a bit later. Mine always had something around 4 ish at that age, fruit, crackers, breadsticks, cheese, rice cakes, yogurt, etc. but not a cooked meal. Then she had her actual supper (hot cooked meal, usually leftovers from ours reheated from day before) closer to 5:30. Then milk about 7.
