Infant feeding

Breast to bottle question

I stopped breastfeeding on Saturday, and so far I'm struggling to give her more than kind of 2.5oz at a time. I'm assuming she's been so used to eating little and often for the last 12 weeks that it'll take some time to get her to have like a full 4/5oz? She does at night, usually at her 4am feed she's have 5oz, but during the day she either falls asleep or just doesn't want anymore until about an hour later so the amount of formula I'm currently throwing away is criminal (not that I really mind) Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

What teat flow are you using? Maybe it needs to be faster

Just the first ones, the number ones. I thought you "had" to use them for such young babies? Now you've said that I have thought on more than one occasion that she seems to be working very hard to eat sometimes.

The age on them are just a guide. If they take too long to take the milk or keep falling asleep then try faster ones

Most teats have a 3+ months which your lo must be roughly

The fact she's falling asleep might suggest she's having to work too hard so a faster teat might help :) mind you, I'm breastfeeding and she'll take loads during the night (at least 30 minute feeds) but doesn't feed for more than 3 minutes in the day 🙄

Thanks so much. I've ordered some size 2 teats and I'll give them a bash. Although since I've posted on here she's a lot hungrier all of a sudden... I swear she can read my mind! She also did then when I was breastfeeding, I'd be lucky to get more than a four minute stint during the day!
