Infant feeding

Ebf baby poo

My 6 week old baby is really struggling to poo. She was going 5 times a day, yellow and seedy, then literally just stopped and didn't go for 5 days. She has been really struggling with wind and been farting a lot and it has been smelly. Today she finally pooed and it was yellow and thick, like korma. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to help her go more regularly again? She is ebf, could it be something I'm eating?

Korma sounds just right! Just keep feeding, both of mine went on poo strikes occasionally, I think it's normal (not much waste in breastmilk).

Totally normal ime. Dd went from pooplosions 4+ times a day to no poos for 4+ days on a cycle - adds to the excitment of babies GrinHmm

Sounds entirely normal. After 6 weeks it's normal for an ebf baby not to poo for 10+ days. It's because breastmilk produces so little waste.

Yep totally normal.

DS is 5 months. He's been ill the last week so a couple of dirty nappies a day.

Before that it's been once every 4-5 days since he was 6 weeks.

It drives you crazy doesn't it! My DS is all or nothing- poo explosions or nothing. Massage to stomach area can help with gas, the 'I love you' massage is particularly good at relieving and also pressing on reflexology point on sole of the feet- I'm sure you'll find pics etc for both online.
