Infant feeding

Away from BF 6 mth old for the day

DD is 6.5 mths. Taking some solids. Not masses but a bit of weetabix for breakfast, fruit for lunch and a little of whatever we're having for dinner. Still BF through the day and hasn't really dropped feeds I don't think.

I leave a 3oz bottle of EBM for her when I'm at work (9-1 usually) but the have to travel for work next week and will be away morning till her bedtime probably.

I reckon the max I can express in the time I have is 3 x 3oz bottles (I've never been great at large volumes) but she'd usually have maybe 6 feeds in that time.

So should I just leave her extra solids- yoghurt, fruit, etc to tide her over or should I just get some formula in also? She's never had formula but I'm assuming, now that her gut is taking in all sorts of new things, it shouldn't cause her problems?

Any advice appreciated!

Hm. Tough one. I'd be tempted to try the extra solids first, but wouldn't want to inflict a crying baby on anyone. Could whoever's looking after her take her to the shop if it becomes apparent she's in need of more milk and has finished the milk you've left? I'd expect the pre-made cartons would be easier than asking them to make it up from powder.

Thanks Savage!

My instinct is to push extra solids too. I don't even know if she'd be up for taking some formula if it tastes 'different'. But yes, I might just get in a couple of ready made bottles just in case. No harm in having them as back-up and I can pass them on to someone if they aren't used.
