Baby in pain after feeding 😩

My dd is 4 weeks old and recently is getting harder to wind after feeding. She's ebf. She feeds little and often and is sick after almost every feed. She burps a couple of times if we're lucky. She cries in pain too after feeding. It's awful.

My ds was never like this so I'm a bit worried. Can anyone offer advice please before I call my health visitor?

Sounds like acid reflux to me.
It's pretty common - my DD had it.
Take him to your GP tomorrow and they should be able to tell you and maybe prescribe an antacid like infant gaviscon - my DD's symptoms improved after the first sachet of gaviscon

I would see a bf specialist too, in my experience GPs can be a bit swift to go for meds because they really don't have time to assess feeding, and IMO this could be why reflux is now considered common when it's not really. Some things like fast letdown can contribute to windy pain after feeding and there are things you can do about that. I'd go along to a group or call the bf helpline. HV should know what's available in your area.

My DD had silent reflux where she wasn't actually sick all that often, but used to scream in pain when she finally burped after struggling for ages. Dr said the acid was coming up but then going back down without her vomiting causing a kind of heartburn pain but the gaviscon sorted her right out - she was constipated for a while after taking it though until her tummy got used to it x

Are you keeping her upright for 40 mins after? I know that's hard. We did that and put a huge book under the cot mattress so he slept on a slope.

A lactation consultant should be able to help, it sounds like DD and she had reflux, caused by allergies. The website KellyMom is also really good for information.

Diff, it's when we put her upright that she cries out, though I know we have to do this to clear her bubbles. Poor little girl

Diff thanks for the tip about sloping the Moses basket. We didn't have to change her outfit once last night! We had raised it previously, but not enough, I think.
