advice on emergency FF for EBF baby
(6 Posts)Am temporarily away from 7 week old baby I am breast feeding. Absent due to unavoidable and unexpected medical reasons. OH is with baby and has access to formula so will prob have to give as a one off feed if I am not back soon which looks likely (last feed nearly 3 hrs ago). Will it be ok?
Our first baby was ebf and had an allergy to cows milk so am a bit concerned baby may have reaction to the formula as well.
No one here is going to be able to tell you if your baby is going to have an intolerance to formula but if you can't be there to breastfeed then you're going to have to give it a shot and see what happens.
The chances are it will be fine, I hope your medical problem gets resolved soon and you get home to your lovely baby. Good luck
I had to do this. The thought is worse than actually doing it. Make sure when giving the formula that baby doesn't gulp it down causing wind and pain which might be mistaken for an allergy. I'm sure baby will be fine. It's a one off. Make sure you express some milk though or you'll be like Dolly Parton!
Thanks RN. Does anyone know if it will affect breast feeding ongoing or have any other implications?
Thanks What!
Quick update - baby took tiny amount of formula then went back to sleep. OH said it seemed highly unimpressed. Gulped down feed when I got back.
Thanks for support and input.
