Infant feeding

Nearly 4 Month old off his bottle

Hi

Just after a little advice please.

My 16 week old has gone off his bottle today. He normally has 4 8oz bottles a day. This morning he woke up slightly earlier than normal and was crying for a feed. But when I gave him the bottle he had about 1oz then refused anymore, but was screaming in pain.

He has tried a couple more times throughout the morning, but has probably only had about 4oz so far (would normally be well on his way to 16 by now!), each time he seems in pain afterwards. I think he is teething, as he keeps putting his hand to his mouth, is biting down on the bottle or anything he can get in his mouth, and there is an awful lot of drool.

Could it be the teething that is putting him off? And is there anything I can do (apart from Calpol/Bonjela) to help him?

TIA Smile

Cold things work well for teething. Chew Toys from the fridge can work well to chew on when their teeth hurt. DD always had her bottles fridge cold and these helped with teething too.

If he's teething I'd use Anbesol. It numbs the gum. Get the liquid rather than gel. Hope he feels better soon

Thanks. Will give those a go. He does have teething chew toys, but hasnt quite got the hang of getting them in his mouth yet, so its mainly his hands/sleeves that he is chewing Grin
