How much to pump - 3 months?

I pump every 2 days, and DH gives dd a bottle so I can wash my hair/have a nap.

I've never expressed for several "meals" though. Of course being ebf I have no idea of tge fluid ounces dd eats per hour.

I have a 4 hr trip out later this month. Any idea how much I should pump? If anyone knows a crib sheet for this it would be super! Smile

I read this kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/milkcalc/ when I thought about expressing for dd. it looks useful but since I have never managed to get her to take a bottle I have no idea if it really is!

Perfect!! Thanks. Looks like just over 1 oz per hour (neatly she tends to nurse every 2 hours - so 2 -and-a-bit ounces per feed was about right all along). Grin
ill probably leave some extra loathe as I am to waste it. "Just in case" she's extra hungry or stroppy.

Can you freeze the bit extra? Then if it looks like it's going to be needed, DH can get it warmed up, but if it isn't then it doesn't go to waste?

My DS is 7 weeks old and weighs 11lb 12. I recently left him for a full 24 hours and he had 30oz of milk. This equated 8 feeds of between 3 and 5oz. Hope this helps!

Yep have the little freezer bags. Hv also suggested sterile ice cube tray in a zip lock.

Thanks firsttime - mine is a little smaller and tends to like a 2 oz bottle, but more frequently. Bit annoying for dh doing the warming up buy amounts to the sane I guess! 2-4 oz feeds but more little bags to heat!

But amounts to the same ... weird auto correct.

I used to freeze my Medela bottles, with about 3oz in each. Then DH just had to warm the bottle in water and pop on a teat. Could you do similar?

I hate to chuck any so 3 oz bottles sometimes means thrown milk (as she won't have it cooled and takes 2 oz then a rest then some more). Smile
He doesn't do night feds thanks to my boobs so he can do some extra heating one afternoon lol!

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest 3oz, but I did mean to suggest freezing bottles ready to go (as an easier to heat solution).

But it sounds like your DH will cope ;)
