Infant feeding

hurting breast?

DS will be 10 weeks old on Monday, and for a little while my left breast has been sore. There's a dull ache inside it right now. I did mention this to the doctor over 2 weeks ago at our check up but she wasn't concerned and said your breasts can hurt sometimes. But sitting here, breast aching away I am questioning, is this really normal? Should my breast be hurting like this? It's not really bad, just a dull sort of ache from deep inside it. I can't particularly feel any lumps, the breast seems fairly dense - I'm not really sure what it's supposed to feel like or if that's normal? DS is EBF on demand, my milk supply seems to get replenished quite quickly after he's had a feed. I'll be going back to the doctor again soon, is it worth bringing up again or was she right that it's just normal?

Definatly worth bringing up. Have u any red hot spots? It could be a blocked duct, try feeding off this side first and hot and cold compress on it. I'm sure some other mums will be on soon to help also xx

Try expressing in a very hot shower or feeding after 20 min with a hot water bottle on it. Sounds like there's some old milk stuck in there - if it persists ask your Hv for the local breastfeeding weekly clinic as they'll know better than the GP by the sound of it. Or the national breastfeeding advice line.
