my dd has just turned one and for the last week has been desperate to breast feed whenever I am near her. she has also been pulling at her dad's top alot and the nursery workers'! she started nursery about a month ago and hasn't really settled yet so I wondered if it was about reconnecting with me when I am around, but not sure that matches up with trying to feed off everyone else too! she also has a cough and cold so that might be a factor. has anyone experienced similar? am I doing the wrong thing by basically letting her have milk whenever she wants? any advice very gratefully received

I don't see how you are doing the wrong thing by continuing to feed on demand. Breastfeeding is a comfort and maybe that's what she wants from the workers or maybe it's simple curiosity!

Could you try a little more skin to skin at home, maybe share a bath etc so she has that comfort and closeness but doesn't need to feed a lot?

I don't really have any experience just wanted to offer some suggestions, and sympathy! Thanks

You are not doing the wrong thing as long as you feel comfortable with it. Nothing wrong with bfing a 1 year old for comfort or using it to reconnect.

Does she have all her teeth yet? I ask because I read somewhere, kellymom possibly, that bfing can be an analgesic for teething pain. And in my experience, both my DDs wanted to feed a lot when a tooth was going to come through. This also often coincided with colds and coughs.

If she has a cough, I also wonder if maybe her throat is sore and the breastmilk is soothing to it.
