Slow flowing bottle teats

I'm currently using mam no.1 teats. Does anyone know of an even slower flowing teat? These ones are still too fast for my 4 week old DS so he chokes and spits a lot of milk out...

He also takes a suck of the bottle then pushes it out, gets upset and starts looking for it again - could this be a sign of nipple confusion? We have combination breast and bottle fed with expressed milk since a week old which has been fine until now (4.5 weeks old)

Tommee Tippee variflow? Mam might do a variflow too. As I understand it the baby controls the flow. However, the TT teats are quite big and we spent a long time making sure they were on top of the DTs' tongues or the milk would go everywhere. In fact, it's not that is it?

Just thought as well. When they were really tiny and in hospital the NNU suggested the Nuk orthodontic teats. They're the ones that come with the SMA starter kit with the little bottles so you could try them at relatively small expense - just empty the sma out and replace it with whatever you're using.

Wow that's a really useful article - thanks so much! Only just saw your message anadietcoke - have just bought a couple of dr brown bottles (as he also has colic) including one preemie one, which may be too small but I thought worth a shot in case the extra slow flow helps. Roll on the small hours then, to test these and my new found knowledge out! Thanks once again.

Just expressed while DH tried the new bottles (Dr Brown preemie and no.1) and followed the tips in the article, rather than trialling at 3am. Resounding success! No stress cues, no spillage/wastage of the precious expressed milk...! He sucked the preemie teat continuously and the no.1 took more frequent breaks (but he might have been more full by that point) and hopefully swallowed less air too. A victory for today!
