Iron supplement

My 11 month old DS stopped bf 2 weeks ago. I have desperately tried to carry one but I can't get him too. Have tried so many different things and now fear it's too late Sad.

Anyway, he had never taken any other milk and is still really not interested. Is having maybe an oz before bed and in the morning. Should I be giving him an iron supplement? He eats 3 good meals a day. Has weetabix most mornings, lots of fruit. Veg everyday and red meat every other day.. All home made (well apart from the fruit pots because I can't be arsed to stew fruit!) also has a couple of yogurts a day.

Any advice appreciated.

Neither my DD nor my DS would take formula or regular milk, having been ebf until around 9/10 months. As long as your DS is eating well and has things like yogurt then he should be fine and not need any supplements. Both mine loved cheese and eggs so I was happy that they were getting enough calcium and iron. Sounds as if your DS is doing fine so try not to worry. Remember, lots of other cultures don't consume cow's milk and their babies grow up just fine. You've done a great job breastfeeding him for nearly a year, be proud of your accomplishment and enjoy moving onto the next phase in his development! Hope this helps.

If you do want to continue bfing it might be worth giving one of the bfing helplines a call, it could just be a nursing strike.
